Fire scars on old Western latch stump on my home forest lit up by my bonfire. This stump offers immense guidance to knowing eyes, it recorded over fifteen wildfires in the life of the tree. Clearly I live in a forest with frequent fire and best be prepared. My situation is not unique to Cranbrook. #fireecology#westernlarch#firescar#firehistory#wildfires
In the East Kootenay, for those of us on rural acreages it is time to burn! We have a choice to greatly reduced forest fuels or do nothing; those of us who take this acrion can sleep a lot better in fire season. 2018 summer weather predictions are pointing towards another active fire season. #fire#fireseason#burning#kootenaylife#kootenay#fireecology
It’s underway and totally AWESOME! The 8th Annual Trashion Fashion Show is happening now at the Tamarack Centre.
This fantastic event, which is held annually in celebration and recognition of #EarthDay, is presented by Mount Baker Secondary School Art 11 and 12 students. Up to 100 students are displaying and modelling clothing and costumes constructed entirely from recycled materials.
This event is so much fun!
